B I O G R A P H Y

Christophe Friquet is born on november 21st 1970 in Châteauroux, France.
He first studied to become a mechanic, then he has done severals jobs, all differents from each others (drawer, solderer, mechanic,...)
Autodidact for many things, he has written, with his girlfriend Nathalie Gallois, an historybook 'Arthon, les coulisses de l'histoire', which has won several prizes, such as 'Défi Jeune' & 'Fondation Crédit Mutuel'.
In 1999, they decide to create together their own firm, 'Cristaly', a multimedia publisher company, and again, they are the 'Impulsion Indre' prizewinners, which reward the best firm creation of the year.

The first book publised by Cristaly is called 'Deux visiteurs à Beauval' and is dedicated to the Beauval Zoo, in Saint Aignan (France).
Then, the company has been contacted to do a photobook about the concert in Egypt of french musician Jean Michel Jarre on december 31st 1999.
The book, titled 'The millennium concert' is released in april 2000.

Meanwhile and after moving, Christophe had a workroom, in which he starts to develop his passion for art & realise his first paintings.
Without any artistic knowledge, he learns by reading books & watching documentary about artists such as Picasso, César or Arman.
His paintings are made on plywood, using there & there some stiking of any kind (sand, flowers, paper, cotton,.....)

During the summer 2000, he starts doing some sculptures using metal.
September 2000, after meeting french artist Guy Baudat (sculptor/potter), he does his first potteries.
End 2001, he wins the 'Goury-Laffont' prize, his 1st national contest.

2002, he does many expositions and wins more contests & prizes such as 'special jury prize' during the Sully/Loire International animal art festival or the 'prix d'honneur' in Gargilesse.
End 2002, he becomes a permanent artist in the 'El cim de l'art' gallery in Andorra.

2003, he sets up his first big personnal exposition , in Brenne (France) , presenting about 100 sculptures for 3 months.
During Summer 2003, he was invited to many exhibitions of all kinds (International Animal Festival, Mediaval Festival, Nature Festival,...) all around France, then, for the end of the year, he has done many Xmas market.
2004 starts with many projects, and a 3 weeks exhibition in a gallery in New
York is being discussed.
2005 is a year only dedicated to creating and building new big size art.

August 2006, Christophe is 1st prize of sculpture during the 10th International Animal art in Eygurande and receive the "Prix du Président de la République" (prize of the french president)
